Typhoon Jebi struck the Kansai region…rather roughly.
Unfortunately many vehicles have been damaged either by water to some level.
Get Cars Japan has checked our stock at the ports and the dock staff provided a damage report.
Luckily almost none of our cars sustained physical damage by contact with other vehicles.
Sea water made contact with the underbody of most vehicles, and they have been steam clean and jet washed underneath. Other vehicles had some water enter the car and the floor mats were wet. We have been working very hard at the dock to remove the seats in order to get the carpets out and flush out all salt. The cars are being treated with rust proofing spray inside before being put back together and nothing with electrical damage will be shipped.
If you car has been subject to any form of damage, we will be sure to contact you with the details and consult before shipping. We hope that there has been no serious damage to any vehicles belonging to our customers.
Since everyone in our office is involved in working at the dock to some extent, we are experiencing some difficulty in our usual high customer service. Please bear with us at this time. Out of 3,000 damaged vehicles at the port, Get Cars Japan is virtually one of the only companies going to these lengths to save customer cars. We have water vacuums, steam cleaners, professional interior personnel, and even dehumidifiers working to ensure there is no moisture inside the cars and they are completely dry inside. Due to the port insurance not covering natural disaster, the best we can hope for to save customers losing money is too get the cars back to original health. Any cases where we fail to do so, we will still be limiting loss by choosing the best way to sell off the cars and recover funds. For vehicles with valuable engines and parts, we are considering parting them out as engines and transmissions alone can fetch good money here.
